What Amy's students say . . .

"Amy is the best voice teacher ever!  I have been taking voice from Amy for about four years and it's so much fun.  She has taught me many things.  Not only has she taught me to sing, but she taught me how to perform.  Taking voice with Amy has not just helped me in musical theatre, but in other activites that I do.  The confidence I have gained has helped me when I am performing my kata in karate or when I'm learning at school.  I have become a leader because Amy has made me feel really good about myself.  Taking voice with Amy is fun because when I am there I can become anyone I want to be.  She makes me feel like I am star!  Amy is now not only my voice teacher, but my friend and mentor.  She has a passion for music that gets me excited every time I am with her.  Thank you Amy for all of this.  You are truly amazing!!!!"

- Love, Olivia (Miss Miller performed in "A Christmas Carol" at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre)

"Amy McCleary has been my voice teacher for over two years now and in that time, I've gone from obscure chorus girl to leading role in my high school musicals. I feel that I've improved greatly under her direction. But she has given me things of so much more value, such as the confidence to perform, despite flaws, in front of my peers, the ability to accept criticism, and the knowledge of how to effectively channel my emotions into an art form. Amy is a wonderful teacher and an even better friend to all of her students."

- Dana Giffin, (starred as Miss Sandra in Cypress Lake High School's production of ALL SHOOK UP)

"Amy Marie McCleary has been my daughter Julia's voice teacher since January and so many exciting things have occured for her since this time.  Julia was recently cast in Godspell, won first place in a local talent show, and has been invited after a recent audition to sing the National Anthem at Hammond Stadium.  Amy has taken Julia to new heights with her singing/drama coaching.  Julia has a newfound self esteem and ability to add an incredible amount of expression to her songs!  If that weren't enough, Julia happens to be having fun learning from Amy and always looks forward to the new things she has in store for her.  THANKS AMY!!"

- Pam Kaye (daughter Julia performed "A Christmas Carol" at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre)

"My daughter, Jordan, has been taking voice lessons from Amy for several months and we are thrilled with her progress.  Amy has been able to help Jordan develop her range and strengthen her voice substantially. The difference is truly remarkable!  Jordan loves going to her lessons and, with each lesson, makes progress.  We appreciate the way Amy is always prepared specifically for Jordan and recommends and prepares songs for Jordan's range and ability. Amy is also wonderful with choreography, which is such a great added bonus!  Amy's talents, along with her enthusiasm and positive attitude, make her a true joy. Each and every time we leave a lesson, Jordan and I talk about how fortunate we feel to have found Amy. I really cannot recommend her highly enough."

Chris Pilant (daughter Jordan appeared in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" at Barbara B. Mann)

"I have been studying acting and voice privately with Amy for two years now.  Her instruction was a vital part of my strategy for college auditions this past year. When I first starting working with her she was increadibly insightful about what I brought to the instructional partnership. Together we developed goals that took me to the next level of accomplishment. As an actor, I learned how to find multiple dimensions in a character and select the one that would be most effecitive for me. Amy helped me to find the freedom to access my most authentic impulses in the context of a playwright’s framework. In my singing she helped me to rely on my natural voice while expanding my technique. We successfully identified and achieved a wider tonal palette, allowing me to perform convincingly in a contemporary genre. A significant aspect of that instruction was the collection of techniques that I learned for releasing tension. I especially appreciated discovering ways to find alternative interpretations of well-known songs, and how to convey my personal and or the characters’ inner relationship with the song. Amy’s experience in successfully navigating the professional theatre landscape was invaluable in my prepartion for auditions. Every aspect of my approach to auditioning was strenghted by Amy’s ingenious coaching, including selection of material, blocking, centering myself in the moment, and presenting my voice in its optimal form. And what is it like to work with this brilliant teacher?  Amy is exceptionally hands-on and accessible, cheerfully responding wheaher during a coaching session or an unscheduled phone call. She is fiercly detail-oriented and her intuition is dead-on. She is both hilarious and pragmatic—a rare combination. Having worked so closely with Amy, I presume now to call her my good friend!"
